POSTURE MAGAZINE PROFILE

POSTURE is an arts magazine that celebrates queer creatives and my wife Nancy and I were honored to have been featured among a list of incredible artists in their very first issue this summer.  We were interviewed about our creative practices individually and as a team.  Nick asked some thought provoking questions about how our personal lives intertwine with our creative outlets.  It was a lot of fun to stop and think about these things.

Here's a look //

HEADSHOTS FOR NEW CEO OF Bpeace

Meet Elizabeth Crowell, the new CEO for the amazing organization Bpeace.  We took some portraits of her in her Prospect Heights, Brooklyn home and here are a couple favorites.

Bpeace is the nonprofit network of business volunteers who work with entrepreneurs in violence-affected communities to scale their businesses, create significant employment for all and expand the economic power of women.  More Jobs Mean Less Violence.®

SNOWY PROSPECT PARK ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

Anthony and Sarah met in September 2010, when they were both working for Sawyer/Berson Architecture + Landscape Architecture.  I was also doing some contract work for the firm at the time, thus having the opportunity to meet these two lovely people.  We have all moved on since then, and in this new year Sarah proposed to Anthony - he said YES!  They will get married in Alabama (where Sarah grew up) in September this year.  Here are a few of my favorite shots as we took a stroll through snowy, sunny Prospect Park.

NY TIMES (SUNDAY STYLES) PHOTOGRAPH

We are excited to announce that we had our first color photograph published in the NY Times, on Sunday, February 1st.  It was accompanied by a sweet article about Tim and Injy, whose wedding we had the great pleasure of photographing at the India House NYC the night before.

LUCKY CHOPS

This shoot goes down as the most fun work of 2014!  They also brought much joy to our wedding in September!  This is only one of many great photos of these amazingly energetic and talented men, aka LUCKY CHOPS BRASS BAND!

2 PICTURES & 1 QUOTE

I recently came across this quote, written by William Martin, and it resonated with me //

“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.”

― William Martin

...and here are 2 photos from last weekend on the North Fork of Long Island.  This field of sunflowers had us make a U-turn to get a closer look.  It was stunning!

GOWANUS TREEHOUSE

In June I had the opportunity to photograph this fun space in Gowanus, Brooklyn!  It's called Gowanus Treehouse, and it's a safe space for children to play as they work toward their goals with occupational therapists.  It's filled with all kinds of secret cubbies, climbing walls, soft pillows to jump into, and even a zipline - even I wanted a play date there!  My friends at Leone Design thoughtfully designed the space.

TIME 100

In April I had the great pleasure of photographing Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria's Finance Minister, for the TIME Magazine 100 red carpet event.  While I captured many photos of Okonjo-Iweala when she came through, I also had the opportunity to photograph many of the other "Influential People of 2014" as they walked down the red carpet.  Here are some of my favorite shots.
